The BCMS band has so many great
things prepared for the upcoming school year and we are happy YOU will be a part of it.  We will be using Class Dojo and Google Classroom as a way to communicate with parents and students in the program.

Meet Ms. Thomas

Regina Thomas is a native of Augusta, GA, Ms. Thomas graduated from Augusta State
University, where she received her bachelor's degree in Music Education.
In 2008, she became the director of bands at Butler High School in Augusta, Ga. Under her
direction, the students participated in football games, parades, competitions, festivals, and
concerts. In addition to directing the band, she was the advisor for the drama club, step
team, gospel choir, and junior/senior advisor for the Class of 2019. Although it was
challenging being an advisor and director, she felt the need to create different clubs for her
students to keep them active in a positive atmosphere.
Ms. Thomas began teaching at Burke County Middle in August 2019, where she is currently
one of the co-directors of the band program. While at Burke County, Ms. Thomas has
assisted with changing the culture of the band program. Her goal, along with her colleague
Mr. Speering, is to create well-rounded leaders, musicians, and a family. As an advisor for
the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Ms. Thomas created the Big Brother/Big Sister program.  This program allowed the students to bond with their peers while tutoring them on their instruments.

Ms. Thomas is a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, the National
Association of Music Education, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and Georgia Association of Educators.

In addition to teaching, Ms. Thomas enjoys riding her bike, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
