WELCOME NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS!
WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A GREAT YEAR!
All chorus students will have the opportunity this year to improve their singing skills, learn to read music, and perform in front of their peers and parents. Hopefully they will learn a lot about music, maybe even things they never knew about kinds of music they never knew existed. (I always learn a lot from the students, by the way.)
Our focus is on classical training and development of independent skill in reading music. If they work hard and really try, they will learn things that they can use throughout their lives.
Most of the time we are going to sing!
Be sure to read the Chorus Handbook that will be sent home with students the first week of school. There is a page for parent signatures that I must have back from you. The handbook includes all the information you will need to get your child started in chorus. I will also be sending home a calendar on a regular basis and will communicate via Class Dojo and this website.
TWO GREAT OPPORTUNITIES:
All-State this fall,
LGPE in the spring.
Look for letters coming home with information about these two events.
I offer lots of after-school time to help students with the skills we are learning. Please take advantage of this offer if you can arrange transportation. I will put available times on the upcoming chorus calendar.
