Mrs. Ellison's 6th - 8th Grade Math and Reading Connections

I am anticipating an exciting semester with your child. This course will ensure that they are capable of achieving mastery in their ELA and Mathematics academics classes. About 85% of this course is computer-based, the remaining percentage of the course is teacher assigned curricular to ensure student's have mastered core standards.

Building Reading Stamina and Skills

Students should be encouraged to engage in reading books and other material that interest them for 15 to 30 minutes per day to increase both their desire to read and enhance their vocabulary. World news is also great for students to view and spark great conversations at dinner; kid-friendly sites such as timeforkids.comhttps://scholasticnews.scholastic.com,    cnn10.com are great options.

Basic mathematical fluency is essential to student success in their academic classes; therefore, I will be working with all students independently, in addition to their progression on the computerized mathematical program, iLearn to ensure they are fluent in basic math skills and to ensure they have the foundation to excel in their academic coursework.

If your child needs additional assistance after school, please communicate with me via email, through the planner, or by phone to schedule a day and time for individualized tutoring sessions.
