Mrs. Ellison's 7th Grade Math Class

About Me

I have had the pleasure of being a faculty member of Burke County Middle School since 2008. I have taught Study Skills, 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Mathematics, Reading and Math/Reading Support. I reside in Keysville, GA with my husband and 11 year old twin boys, Ian and Emory. I enjoy reading, cooking, shopping and traveling.

The Classroom Culture

I am anticipating an exciting year with your child. As we embark upon this 2024-2025 journey, my goal is to ensure your child is proficient in each of the 7th Grade Mathematical Standards. Hard work, dedication and persistence will be paramount among students to ensure their success in this course. I will work hard to ensure every child works to achieve mastery of all standards and I will not accept mediocre work from any of my students.

In "Our" Classroom we will:

  • create an environment where everyone feels comfortable
  • respect others and give everyone an opportunity to speak without interrupting or criticizing
  • behave appropriately
  • use our time wisely and work collaboratively with our peers when necessary
  • ask questions and seek assistance

Class Structure

In addition to traditional direct instruction, which will be minimal, students will engage primarily in self-directed learning through Google Classroom, HMH and learning tasks that promote productive struggle.
