Welcome to all 7th grade students and parents of BCMS! I am Ms. Vernisha Phillips. I'm a 7th grade science teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. It will be my pleasure and duty to lead, serve, and assist you all with your educational needs and endeavors during the school year. I'm a graduate of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I'm currently planning to obtain my Master of Art degree in Teaching from Augusta University.
My purpose and overall desire as an educator in the Burke County Public School System is this, to lead each student into a victorious school year! Not only in academics, but my job as a teacher is to motivate and encourage all of my students that any goal that they desire to accomplish in their lifetime is POSSIBLE! And yes, THEY CAN DO IT! I believe every child has a gift, talent, interest or potential about themselves that make them very unique. My job is also to help students to discover those qualities, and for those who have already discovered them, encourage them to keep cultivating those strengths and pursue their dreams.
In return, I have very high exceptations that each student will do their part to succeed academically and in every area of their lives. I also expect each student to give respect to all their teachers (including myself), parents/guardians, administrators and proper authority, and fellow students. The students, parents, and myself will work as a team to make sure that each child will have a wonderful school year. My classes and I are a team also; we will support one another to the best that we can! Welcome back BCMS cubs! Our motto this year: WE CARE!
