Welcome to another school year at BCMS!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to another successful year at BCMS!!! My name is Robert Floyd, and I will be serving as the School Counselor for the 6th grade students. Also, I serve as the kicking coach for the varsity football program for BCHS, and this school year will be my 22nd year as an educator in the state of Georgia. I am absolutely excited to be working with the sixth grade students here at BCMS. I believe that middle school years are important for school counselors to work with parents and students to assist in the growth and development of BCMS' students. I want to make an impact on the lives of all of the students in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development.
I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and went to college at Georgia College & State University for my undergraduate degree in Psychology. I was working in the business world for the next ten years and later decided to go with my heart and enter the education field. I moved to Augusta and earned another undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education. I worked as a Physical Educator in Richmond County for ten years and I earned two Masters degrees in School Counseling Health and Physical Education from Augusta University, Also, I worked for Burke County School System as a School Counselor and as a Media Specialist for six years. During that time frame, I earned a Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University. Last year, I was the eighth grade school counselor at BCMS, and I look forward to working with the sixth grade students this year. I am very happy to back working for the Burke County School System.
I have been married to wife for over 30 years. I have a son who is a senior at Augusta University, and I have a daughter who is a sophomore and plays soccer at Young Harris College. I know we are going to have a great year. If I can be of any assistance email is the best way to contact me. My email is RFloyd@burke.k12.ga.us and GO CUBS!!!
