Thanks for stopping by my web page today. Here are a few things about me:
I've been a teacher for over 20 years, 14 of them have been in Burke County. Teaching was always my dream. As a young student, I spent my afternoons pretending to be a teacher as I read aloud my class notes from each day. Also, I would write my spelling and vocabulary words on the board as I taught my "imaginary class." I didn't realize it at the time, but I was forming a great daily habit by playing school with my real work and reinforcing what I learned daily! Little did I know that it would lead me to be a successful student! So successful, that I went on to gain a college degree in teaching. I share this to inspire and encourage my students to go home and work a little bit each night on their daily lessons. It is amazing what 30 minutes of reviewing each day can do for you!
I'm happy to announce that this year in 8th grade we are trying something brand new. ELA has now been made into two separate classes: Reading and Writing. For this reason, my class will be closely tied to the Reading section, taught by Mrs. Darcy Kelly. Together, we hope to prepare students for scoring proficiently on the Georgia Milestones Assessment as well as preparing them for high school and college!
Students get ready to read and write about some interesting topics as we soar to the top of the performance pole! My motto for this year is: "Invest in your education! It is a treasure and will yield rich results!
I look forward to meeting my new students and having a rewarding school year!
